Program Implementation

Tips to Implementation/Keys to Success:

According to an implementation study of Pathways conducted by Mathematica Policy Research, there are several keys to success tied to the monthly group meeting and activity diary3

  • Providing case management services in a group format makes it administratively feasible for welfare staff to see the entire caseload every month, especially when staff resources are limited.
  • The monthly group meetings provide a forum in which welfare recipients can share personal and family challenges and successes and receive information on a broader range of resources than they would receive from agency staff alone.
  • The broad range of activities in the diary recognizes the importance of taking small steps toward self–sufficiency and encourages welfare recipients and staff to include these activities in the monthly plan.
