A representative from the Summit County Department of Job and Family Services would like to know if any State uses the Vocational Habilitation disability model to meet TANF work participation and to move generational TANF customers into employment? These are services designed to teach and reinforce concepts related to work, including responsibility, attendance, task completion, problem solving, social interaction, motor skill development and safety. Is it possible to use the approach that Goodwill and other agencies use that work with people with developmental disabilities?

A representative from Washington States' Economic Services Administration would like to hear from States that include a SSI recipient in the TANF assistance unit, and budget the SSI payment against the TANF grant?

The Welfare Peer Technical Assistance (TA) Network is interested to learn about promising practices regarding what services States are providing to support individuals with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, or mental health issues in finding and retaining employment. Any answers you could provide would be helpful.

Colorado DHS staff has a working group with a number of external partners that deals with ADA as it relates to TANF clients. State staff have asked me to check to see what other states may be doing in the area of data collection of TANF clients with ADA issues. Colorado is interested in specific data elements that states may use to identify TANF clients with ADA considerations, (what information is collected), how the info is collected, i.e. via automated systems or by other means, and to whom the information is reported or released after it is collected.
