This tipsheet is intended for state, county, and Tribal TANF leaders who make program-level decisions about the types of resources and services that their programs offer to TANF participants.
This webpage highlights the TANF Outcomes Technical Assistance and Logistics (TOTAL) project, which provides compliance support to state TANF programs responding to new statutory work outcomes reporting requirements, changes to the caseload reduction credit component of the work participation rate (WPR) calculation, and WPR calculations and small check cases enacted by the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 (FRA). In addition to changes outlined in the FRA for all states, the FRA authorized and TOTAL supports up to five selected states piloting innovative approaches aimed at promoting work and reducing government dependency.
