Building a Safer Child Support Program for Survivors: Findings from the New York Family Safety Questions Pilot Study
This SAVES Center report examines New York's pilot study of family safety questions in the child support system, exploring how agencies can identify safety concerns and better support survivors of domestic violence. The study incorporates survivor perspectives to inform screening questions and identify policies and practices that may create safety risks. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) practitioners and administrators can use these findings to consider how safety screening, survivor-informed practices, and coordination with child support agencies can improve service delivery and help protect families navigating multiple public assistance systems.
