Powering Service-to-Career Pathways
Service-to-career pathways connect community service with career development, work-based learning, and opportunities for further education and employment. This Jobs for the Future (JFF) resource describes how these pathways can help participants build technical and transferable skills, develop professional networks, gain leadership experience, and access credentials, apprenticeships, and jobs. JFF also highlights efforts to strengthen these pathways through collaboration among service providers, employers, workforce agencies, and education partners. The resource offers ideas for connecting participants to community service opportunities that support career exploration and skill-building. These insights may be useful to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) practitioners as they consider partnerships with workforce and education providers to help participants turn service experiences into steps toward employment and career advancement.
