ACF Awards $5.1 Million to Expand Kinship Navigator Programs

Kinship caregivers, including grandparents, relatives, and other family members, play an important role in providing children with safe, stable homes while maintaining family connections. The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has awarded $5.1 million in grants to 11 recipients to expand evidence-based Kinship Navigator Programs. The funding will support states, tribes, and community partners in replicating proven models or adapting them to meet the cultural needs of Tribal communities, helping kin caregivers access services and resources to support the children in their care.

These programs highlight opportunities to strengthen support for kinship families through service coordination, referrals, and connections to community resources. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) agencies can use this announcement to consider potential partnerships with Kinship Navigator Programs to help caregivers navigate available assistance, address financial and family needs, and access supports that promote household stability. This investment also aligns with ACF’s A Home for Every Child initiative, emphasizing the importance of kinship placements and ensuring caregivers have the resources and support needed to provide safe, nurturing homes.
